1. Budget Boutique Guesthouse
Carlton House Guesthouse is a family-run Budget Boutique Guesthouse offering uniquely designed en-suite guest rooms. Please note that we do not offer family rooms.
2. Self-Check-In Accommodation
Carlton House Guesthouse operates as self-check-in accommodation.
Please ensure that the mobile number and email address provided on your booking are accurate, as your self-check-in information will be sent by email or text message before your arrival.
Check-in is from 3:00 pm and check-out is by 10:00 am. A late check-out until 12:00 noon may be available for an additional fee, subject to availability. Please enquire at the time of booking.
We do not live on-site. Staff are usually at the property until 2:00 pm each day. For any issues, enquiries or requests, please contact our 24/7 mobile number: 07862 136813.
Between 7:00 pm and 7:00 am, this number is for emergencies only.
3. Dog-Friendly Accommodation
Carlton House Guesthouse is a dog-friendly property. Guests bringing a dog must accept our Dog Policy by email or text before arrival. The policy will be sent at the time of booking.
It is the guest’s responsibility to inform us in advance if they are bringing a dog and to provide any information requested under the policy. We reserve the right to cancel a reservation if a guest does not inform us that they are bringing a dog or does not agree to the Dog Policy before arrival.
Payment details may be used to recover reasonable costs for damage caused by a guest’s dog, in line with these terms. Dog Policy [link]
4. Quiet House
Carlton House Guesthouse is located in a residential neighbourhood and is listed as a Quiet House and No Parties Property.
All guests are required to respect this policy. Parties, events, disruptive gatherings, group parties and unauthorised multiple-room bookings are not permitted.
We reserve the right to refuse entry or ask guests to leave if this policy is breached.
5. Strictly Non-Smoking and Non-Vaping Property
Carlton House Guesthouse is strictly non-smoking and non-vaping throughout the property.
Smoking or vaping is not permitted in guest rooms, communal areas or anywhere inside the building. Guests may be charged for additional cleaning, deodorising, damage or loss of room availability caused by smoking or vaping.
6. Parking
Parking Discs
We offer a parking disc that allows guests to park on nearby streets free of charge for a maximum stay of three hours, where local disc-zone restrictions apply.
Disc-zone restrictions usually apply from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. There are usually no disc-zone time restrictions from 5:00 pm to 9:00 am, but guests must always check local signage, as restrictions may vary by street or bay.
North Yorkshire Council confirms that Scarborough and Whitby disc zones are controlled parking zones where parking is only permitted in designated bays, and guests must display a disc clock showing their arrival time.
Daily Street Parking Permits
If you require a daily street parking permit, please let us know before arrival. Fees apply. Please enquire at the time of booking.
Where arranged, the permit will be placed in your room before arrival. Guests are responsible for displaying permits correctly and checking local parking signs.
Blue Badge Holders
Blue Badge holders should park in accordance with current local council rules and nearby signage. Blue Badge rules can vary depending on the bay, street and local restrictions, so guests should check the signs in the area before leaving their vehicle.
7. Payment
A valid payment method must be provided at the time of booking. If a valid payment method is not provided, the booking will be held for 24 hours before being automatically cancelled.
For standard flexible rates, guests are entitled to free cancellation up to five days before the arrival date. Cancellations made after the free cancellation period may be charged up to the full booking value, depending on the circumstances and our ability to re-let the room.
Four days before arrival, our booking system will pre-authorise the payment method provided. If the pre-authorisation fails, the booking may be cancelled within 24 hours unless the payment method is updated or sufficient funds are made available.
On the morning of arrival, we will process payment for the stay using the payment method provided at the time of booking. Payments are processed securely through Stripe.
Non-refundable rates will be charged within 24 hours of the booking being received. Non-refundable bookings cannot usually be cancelled, amended or refunded unless required by law or agreed by us in writing.
Once payment has been processed, a confirmation email will be sent to you. If you require a VAT receipt or invoice, please let us know and we will send this by email where applicable.
If you wish to update your payment details or discuss payment preferences, please contact us as soon as possible after receiving your Welcome email on 07862 136813.
We reserve the right to deny access to the property if payment has not been made in accordance with these terms.
8. Damage, Additional Cleaning and Charges
Guests are responsible for any damage, breakages, missing items, excessive cleaning, smoking or vaping damage, or disturbance caused during their stay.
Where additional charges are necessary, we will charge a reasonable amount reflecting the cost of repair, replacement, cleaning or loss caused. Evidence may be provided where appropriate.
9. Guest Responsibility
By making a booking, guests agree to comply with these Terms & Conditions, our listing specifications, our Quiet House policy, our Dog Policy where applicable, and all check-in instructions provided before arrival.
We reserve the right to refuse entry, cancel a booking or ask guests to leave if these terms are breached.
